I’m sure some of you will be embarking on some remodeling adventures this year or maybe even custom home builds! Here are several of my favorite home design trends for 2023! 2023 is all about textures, organic accents, and mixing styles together to turn your home into a work of art.
1. Statement Stone
If you want your home to be an instant conversation piece, then incorporating statement stone is for you! Using stark white slabs of marble isn’t it anymore, but instead using eye popping stone slabs with unique coloring is the way to go.
2. Moody Paint
Bring a little bit of drama into your home by using rich and dark colored paint on accent walls! Really let your personality shine through with this trend by choosing colors that appeal to your inner moodiness. This doesn’t necessarily have to be black (although I do love a nice black room) but can be darker jewel and earth tones. We want the paint rich and cozy, to avoid the “too dark” feeling. Keep it moody and not depressy.
3. Wallpaper
There’s no limit to wallpaper options. From contemporary geometric patterns to traditional florals, wallpaper lets your originality shine through. Wallpaper can also provide a tactile touch as it can be textured! This trend is extremely artistic and eclectic, so you have to be slightly brave to dive right in.
4. Vertical Wall Treatments
If you flip shiplap around just a little bit you instantly have vertical wall treatments. This makes any space feel expansive and open, so it’s perfect for smaller spaces. It also provides depth and balance to a space which is aesthetically pleasing to the eye.
5. Arches
To truly bring in the organic feel of nature, try incorporating arches! Most living spaces are solely comprised of clear and defined lines and edges. Arches are a direct contrast to this and bring a sense of tranquility to a space. It’s a very strong architectural element, so don’t overdo it. This is probably my favorite of the home design trends!
6. Mixing Eras
If you have a love for classic and vintage style, then this trend is for you! Reimagined and repurposed classic elements incorporated into a contemporary home brings warmth and nostalgia in. 2022 was huge on completely neutral and bare homes and this trend is the exact opposite. Textures, colors, and decorative accents of all shapes and sizes all seamlessly blended together into one cohesive space.
A brand that emulates several of these design trend in a gorgeous and cohesive way is Studio McGee. Their Spring Collection is filled with texture, organic detailing, and stunning jewel toned colors. Take a look, here!
