I don’t know about you, but my bedroom is my ultimate sanctuary. Whether I’m unwinding from a crazy workday or hiding from my family for a quick nap, my bedroom is my go-to spot. Here are 8 tips on how to create a cozy bedroom that you can’t wait to run away to!
Choose the Right Bed
First things first, the heart of any cozy bedroom is the bed itself. I always recommend picking a bed that not only matches your personal style but also offers the utmost comfort. Whether it’s a plush upholstered headboard or a sturdy wooden frame, the right bed sets the tone for the entire room.
The bed you see pictured above is my favorite. The color is simply perfect. It complements any decor and matches easily with all my seasonal decor! It’s currently on sale from Wayfair!
Your area rugs will also depend on the size of your bed. To understand how to size a rug for the bedroom, check out this g the Perfect Rug Size
The rug you see styled in my photos is a persian style rug, part of the Studio Mcgee collaboration at Target. Shop it here!
Quality Bedding
There’s nothing like sinking into soft, high-quality bedding at the end of a long day. I always opt for natural, breathable fabrics like cotton or linen. They not only feel luxurious but also help in regulating your body temperature for a restful sleep.
Adding super soft and cozy quilts on top adds some character to the space and they’re simply the best to take a nap under!
Cozy Bedroom Lighting
Lighting can make or break the ambiance of a room. I swear by warm, soft lighting to create a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Think about adding dimmer switches or layering different light sources like floor lamps and bedside table lamps to adjust the mood as you wish.
The best recent addition to my nightstand has been this flame AND oil diffuser from Amazon! It creates this flame effect with warm LED lights and makes my bedroom smell oh-so-dreamy!!
Layer with Blankets
Adding layers to your bed isn’t just for looks – it’s about comfort too! I love layering different textures like a chunky knit throw or a soft fleece blanket. They’re perfect for snuggling up with a good book or a cup of tea.
In the winter, a faux fur or chunky knit is perfect, while in the summer I prefer a lighter waffle-weave blanket!
Decorative Pillows
Decorative pillows can instantly elevate the look of your bed. Mix and match different sizes, colors, and textures to add depth and interest. Plus, they’re great for propping yourself up for a Netflix binge or a late-night chat.
I like to layer different types of pillows. Not all them are going to be functional, of course, but it creates depth and dimension in the room.
Black-Out Curtains
Good sleep is crucial, and blackout curtains can be a game-changer. They block out light and noise, ensuring you get the undisturbed rest you deserve. Plus, they add a touch of elegance to your bedroom décor.
These blackout curtains from Amazon are my absolute favorite. I have them all around my house, not just in the bedroom. They are THAT good.
Large Nightstands
What is a nightstand great for? Storing snacks. Just kidding… but a clutter-free space is essential for a peaceful mind. Large nightstands not only offer convenience but also provide ample storage for your essentials.
Serene Scents
Candles or an oil-diffuser are a must for your bedroom!! You know that smell of clean laundry we all adore so much? Add that scent to your bedroom and you’ll never want to leave.
