Creating a designer-looking kitchen doesn’t have to be complicated! The goal is to make minor additions over time to elevate the design. Small things like adding decorative accents or swapping out hardware make all the difference! Here are 10 tips for creating a designer-looking kitchen the easy way!
1. Minimal Counters
I will say this repeatedly: Put your toasters and blenders away and keep your countertops clean! Clutter immediately distracts the eye and makes a space unappealing. And let’s be honest, most small kitchen appliances aren’t pretty to look at, so put them away whenever you can!
2. Update the Hardware
Hardware is one of those kitchen additions that immediately elevates your space! If you must choose one thing to create a designer-looking kitchen, this is it!
3. Add Glass Containers & Jars
If you must have spices, flour, or other things within easy reach, use aesthetic glass containers! Not only does this make your kitchen look clean, but it creates a cohesive design throughout your home!
4. Create a Focal Wall
Our eyes constantly search for a focal point, so why not add an eye-catching element into your kitchen? A unique, bold backsplash, stunning hood, or sizeable open shelving would do just this! Open shelving is by far my favorite kitchen design trend to add! It’s great for storage and an ideal area to add decorative accents!
5. Add Some Art!
Small framed prints make a great addition to the kitchen. I love displaying them on open shelving or layering it against the backsplash! Choose pieces that complement your decor and other art in your home!
6. Statement Greenery
I’m such a huge fan of adding greenery to every room! You can swap it out every season to maintain a fresh look and bring new colors into your home!
7. Create Layers
The easiest way to create layers in the kitchen is with wooden cutting boards stacked against the backsplash. Add some other decor items with varying heights in front!
8. Add Vintage Touches
A retro accent light, a rustic vase, or vintage framed prints are all small touches you can add to your kitchen! Be sure also to add vintage touches throughout the rest of your home to create a cohesive look.
9. Go Bold with Color!
The kitchen is the central space in your home where you can absolutely use bold colors and accents! The days of a pure white kitchen are over, and we are embracing individuality and charm in design! If you don’t want to dive into a fully colored kitchen, add some color to the island cabinets!
10. Add a Lamp
Accent lighting will always be a simple way to create an upscale look. Adding a small table lamp adds depth and is a great way to add vertical height with your decor.
